This is dependent upon your condition. Dr. Lehmann will need to evaluate and customize and treatment plan according to your needs.
4. Is Prolotherapy performed under anesthesia?
At Houston Spine & Sports Medicine, Prolotherapy is used to treat musculoskeletal pain and is an outpatient procedure. Lidocaine may be used during the procedure to help with pain, but the patient is not under general anesthesia.
5. Will I need someone to drive me home after treatment?
Most patients are able to drive themselves home after Prolotherapy treatment. However, you may consider having someone drive you home if you are having your hands, right foot, or right knee treated.
6. Is Prolotherapy covered by insurance?
At this time, prolotherapy is not covered by insurance. However, the procedure is affordable and payment plans can be arranged.
7. What should I do to prepare for the treatment?
Usually, Dr. Lehmann advises that patients avoid anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) both prior and after treatment. Additionally, staying well hydrated can help diminish any discomfort associated with the procedures. The physician may also instruct each patient individually on any other precautions they should take on a case by case basis.
